Curriculum
At Hartpury the teachers put the children at the centre of curriculum development. Curriculum themes are established to incorporate the key elements of the National Curriculum but also to inspire and enthuse children. Children develop a wide range of skills as they explore the curriculum through various engaging topics in history, geography, science and beyond. We recognise the importance of practicing previously taught knowledge and skills as well as learning the new and are building a curriculum which allows time for this in each lesson.
Our staff provide a wide range of exciting learning opportunities within a supportive and calm environment. Our curriculum allows us to promote a mix of independence and collaborative work, which develops well-rounded children who are prepared for the next step in their educational journey.
A wide range of extra-curricular opportunities exist for children to explore and enjoy. Regular clubs include: choir, sports, art, construction, gymnastics and crafts.
The outdoor environment plays a key role in our curriculum and children are encouraged to learn outside as much as possible. The school has a well-established programme of Outdoor Education which promotes outdoor learning and opportunities for children to work collaboratively whilst exploring the outdoor environment.
At Hartpury we firmly believe that providing memorable experiences is how children learn best. Each class tries to incorporate a range of class visits regularly to give children tangible experiences which help them to scaffold their learning.
